You would likely be best served going to one of your local dealers, a bigger more stable company will have a lot of information from which you can choose the best system for your situation, and be able to provide after sales service. Smaller companies, may be friendlier and easier to work with, but in this financial climate are they going to be around in 6 months? Each to his or her own though, whatever you feel most comfortable with. Most reputable companies will give quotes with no strings attached and a walk through of your location will allow them to see things you probably have not even thought about.
Hope this helps.
If buying a new system from scratch, its probably best to get a few vendors from your area in to do an onsite survey and sit down and discuss with you what type of environment you envision (call center, voicemail, IP, etc...) Pricing will vary from vendor to vendor.
Once you meet with a few vendors, you should also discuss support and SLA agreements. No system is good to you down, especially if you get a vendor who can't support it.
Some companies you can look for in your phone book would be your big carriers, Verizon, SBC, Sprint etc. There are also other companies that do the same thing, Black Box, Presidio, General Dynamics, Shared Technologies ( I think they are still around) a lot depends on where you are located, but thats a place to start searching and get quotes from more than 1 place as suggested before.
another way if to go to the nortel site and get a list of gold partners.. just a nortel way of listing major vendors.
i would usually suggest getting a price from at least 2 sources, and also look at support.. i can sell you a system a lot cheaper if i don't expect to maintain it.. response time can make a large change in price
