Hello Friends,
I am having big problem in setting up System & Group policies configuration for the clients. I got fairly good understanding of where to set up the Group policy and it's functions, however, I do not understand how can I configure the system policies in the Windows 2000 server for down level clients. I know many folks in this group have done this. Please let me know:

how can I apply the System Policies in the server means- where is the property of the OU or domain that these config.pol applied so that users from the OU or domain will receive the system policy.
I could not figure out the way that.

Thanks. Mathew

If you have your server configured allready and the clients are all on the domain all you should have to do is put the computers into a OU and then apply a GPO to it.

Thanks.
Simply adding a GPO do not help, since we have to add the config.pol to the GPO. I need the information about where is the parameters or properties that I can add this.

What operating systems are the clients using
win 9x = use config.pol
winNT = use ntconfig.pol
win2k/xp = use group policy
group policy afask only works for win2k and above.
To ensure the config.pol and ntconfig.pol are being used they have to be in the \\server\netlogon share (%systemroot%\sysvol\sysvol\<domainname>\scripts).
to activate the Group Policy you must right-click on the OU choose properties and select the TAB group policy. From here you can create a new policy or add an existing policy.
Any PCs/Users in this OU will see the policy on their PC.

If your clients are win2000 or XP, make sure they are using the IP address of your Domain COntroler as their DNS server address. This is a very common problem when dealing with GPOS.
You need config.pol, only if you are working with WIn9X cleints. A+, MCP, CCNA
