I would like to know the best place to put a notification script on the system after it has finished booting.

The script would require IP connections to allow it to nofiy me via email that the system is back up.

Thanks.

hi ,

you can put your script in inittab near the bottom something like this

checkscr:2:wait:/etc/check_system > /dev/console 2>&1

hth

Could you please share the script that would be great for me

Simplistic contents will be something like this:

echo "Server xyz rebooted"|mail -s "hostname" you@domain.name

Make sure the script is executable.
