In the industry, what is it called when you build a database management system?
In some cases, a futile attempt to get ignorant people to change how they view or carry out a process that you have attempted to improve. This is the "I know it's wrong, but my boss wants it done this way" syndrome.
In other cases, it's called a heaven-sent gift that helps appreciative people do their jobs faster and easier, with fewer errors and more functionality. This is the "Boy, I wish I'd known we could do it like this five years ago" syndrome.
Mostly, it's just called "a system". Sometimes, "an application". I'm kinda partial to "database system" myself.
Me? Ambivalent? Well, yes and no....
