I am using MS Office 2000 Professional (Upgrade) for a number of months (properly registered). Also using Windows 98 Second version. The other day I checked the System Information and found out that except the Publisher 2000 all other entries (in Applications) were:
MS Excel 2000(or Word, etc.) has not been started or is not installed. Install and /or start the application then press F5 to refresh.

In individual application one can also get access to System Information (through Help, About MS..., System Information). This gives slightly different results depending on the opened application. For instance opening MS Word 2000 and checking System Information renders correct information about Version 9, however accessing it from MS Excel 2000 still shows that the application "...has not been started, etc..."I tried repairing System Files (Power Toys) no difference. Regedit shows under Office that applications are installed. Applications all are running OK (Using Pentium 166 MHz), 32 Mb RAM). If this is not reliable how reliable is the rest of info?
There are listed two replies, however I still did not receive any replies. I checked my e-mail 13th November at 10.45 Melbourne tme. Regrds,
The "2 Responses" problem has now been tended too; it should now (truthfully) say "2 Responses", but after any more posts it whould tell you a diff number ;)
As far as the problem you had goes; the only real solution I can think of is Linux; but then you'd have to change your username ;)
You might also check around at <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> for an update that might help with this problem.
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net

*nix installation & program collector/reseller. Contact me if you think you've got one that I don't :)

I suspect that the problem is due to the new Office 2000 Installer. The Publisher (included in the Office2000) is using the old Installer and it shows correctly in the System Information. All other parts of the Office 2000 are using a new version of the Installer.
