Hi all,

Just a quick simple question.

When looking through my windows task manager, under image name i have a process called system idle process and under user name its called SYSTEM. I seems to be using up a large % of my CPU capacity!!

Can anyone give me a run through of what it does and whats its importance!

What would be the effects if i ended this process??!

cheers

You cannot end this process, it is a SYSTEM process.

While there can be active things during the 'Idle' process, generally speaking you should leave these alone. Essentially it is a measure of how not busy your system is.

100-actual work = idle process

I have an excellent use for those idle cycles: join a Distributed Computing project: thread779-776291

I forgot. One description of what can occur during the idle process: faq779-4518
