Hi can anyone help.
I have an SCO 5.0.3 system and a couple of times a week every user who is logged in just freezes and completely hangs. Even the console locks up and does not respond so I end up having ot just switch the machine off and on again.
I cant find anything usefull in the messages or syslog files.
Has anyone else experienced such problems?

first double check your version.. uname -X
second.....you probably have hardware problems or disk space issues. I have seen it freeze when you run out of disk space on the root filesystem and where /tmp resides. If you recently added new hardware that required a driver it could be a driver, but it is most likely a hardware problem.

I'd check the disk space but generally you'll see a message on the console indicating no room on /dev/hd???? or something to that effect. I'd also check RAM (I've had situations where the RAM was faulty and lock up just like yours particularly where the system was heavily used (ie utilizing all of the RAM) or depending on the CPU, check the cooling fan on the processor (It could be a heat problem on the CPU itself).
