I have been having a very wierd issue. I have a windows xp pro pc. And i began to have issue with my D:(HARDDRIVE2) i would run the hard drive tools error checking and my computer would freeze on the 4th stage. So i bought another hard drive (harddrive3).
Ok this part might get confusing.
1. I did a clean install to harddrive3 which is now C:
2. I moved harddrive1 to D:
3. I moved harddrive2 to F:
now this is wierd. Im having the same issue with harddrive1 now. Makes no sence. Can someone help me out.
Thank you

Could be a glitch with the HD checking software.
Does your system run ok otherwise?

It runs fine and has only been acting up recently. Well either way i went and did a disk check with seagate tools. It found some bad clusters on the disk. So i thought let me remove all the data from the disk and reformat.
I turned off the computer and back on and the hard disk wasnt detected. Im like what the hell is going on here!
I removed the cable and put it back and it finally detected it.
Well i have reformated and im running diag right now. Keep your fingers crossed.
Hopefully it will work.
Thanks for all the help

Did you use the same IDE adapter and/or IDE cable that was on harddrive2 when moving harddrive1 to D:? If so, the error seems to be following either the IDE adapter or cable. You may want to consider replacing the cable with a new one.

I have changed the ide cable. So its not the ide cable.
