When the machine boots, it gives me a Windows\System file is corrupt or does not exsist press 'r' after booting to CD.

What command do I use to repair the system folder off a XP disk.

jester - are you trying to install XP here? ('after booting to CD'). If so, this sort of problem often means a hardware issue.

HI Ryan,

OK...

The command you need is : sfc/scannow
Make sure the XP CD is in the drive

Once doing this, it will take a bit. I would also probably recommend doing from either safemode, or for a command line boot.

In some cases where the problem machine is or has been "moved" occasionally, using a :chkdsk /r may also help. Some users are known to move their machines around while the unit is still powered up. Of course this is not a black and white method of changing locations.

Hope this helps.
