Hi all,

I am currently on remote desktop connecting to the server with the ACCPAC application on (working fr home), Tried printing something simple like the trial balance (system report) and it comes up with System error - cannot start the report.
Tried running integrity checks remotely but the same error comes up. I'm at a loss!! When I'm in the office working on LAN it all works fine.

"Description: System error. Cannot start the report. Write down the message. Exit ACCPAC and Windows. Restart and retry the operation. For more information, see Appendix A in the System Manager User Guide.
Code: 1.3128.182
Source: 12:46:37 - SvrSession"

Can anyone shed some light on this..
I'm usng ACCPAC 5.2 enterprise

thanks for your help

Are you using WebAccpac, or a VPN connection?

Well, as a rule, Accpac runs terribly over VPN connections, it's a very thick client.

1. Are the Accpac programs loaded on your C: drive?
2. When you're on the VPN, are your drive mappings identical to the office?

Yeah i agree. Its terribly slow.

No the accpac programs are loaded on the server on a shared drive. The exe file is link to the exe on this shared drive when we're on LAN

VPN - hmmm now that you mention it...it could be the drive mappings...I was pretty certain they're identical..I'll have to check

Do you think it could be permissions...i know for a fact the registry keys for the local machine is definitely different to the one on server...and when we connect to the VPN it uses the server registry keys which has permissions by grouped users. Dunno if this has changed cos i'm pretty sure the IT department just did some stuff on the server

You're running Accpac with the programs on the server...

Over a VPN...?

ROTFL!!!

Forget it, my friend, even if you fix the permissions, it's going to run like s$%#.

You need Terminal Server/Citrix/PCAnywhere/GoToMyPC.

Yeah bluddie VPN damn slow. NAh have to use VPN cos our connection reroutes to US then back to our server in Australia...its stupid..

This error has happened on my machine. I use remote desktop from home to work as well. I've only seen it happen on systems that use the Workstation install on the clients. I hasn't happened to any of the Fat clients at the office. To correct it, simply run a repair on the client with the install. Otherwise, run a repair on the System Manager on the server. It should correct the error. ACCPAC doesn't know what the error is either. I hate the system and support, but i live with what i have to work with.
