On one of our win2k servers were running Netshield 4.5 as well as epo 2.5.1

last thursday through friday we had 12 instances of system error 7031 "The NA McSHield service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this (x) times. The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds : no action"

We also noticed that the mcshield.exe process was taking up 100% of cpu in task manager.

We disabled the netshield on-access scanner on friday and have enabled it again on monday, and so far everything seems ok.

anyone any ideas as to possble causes /solutions?

are these two incidents linked?

Is this server running the ePO server or just an agent?

If its only the agent, you need to go to C:\ePOAgent\AgentDB\Task and delete all the files there. The agent will then procede to re-acquire all the tasks from the ePO server.

The problem was caused by the ePO agent not being able to execute the task.

its actually running the epo server program, as well as having its own epo agent and netshield.

I think the obvious thing would be to apply sp1 for netshield.

Would be nice to know the cause and whther the two incidents were related though.

Nothing in the McAfee KBase
