I have installed a report on the client P.C. after I have used the distribution expert in crystal.(Crystal 7.0 32 bit) The necessary files were installed and the report was installed successfully. The next step is to install the OBBC drivers. I am using SQL server driver. However, when I try to add that driver I get the error "ODBC error:Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126." I have checked the crystal site and did find info, but it did not help. I'm trying to find out why this problem is happening on the majority of P.C's but not all. Thanks.

Is there a SQL Server ODBC driver already on the system? You can use the ODBC Administrator in Control Panel to find out if a SQL Server driver is already installed and what the version is of that driver.

And what version are you trying to install?

I've seen problems where a PC already has the SQL Server 2000 driver, and someone tries to install driver V3.7 on the PC. Brian J. Alves

Thank you for responding so quickly. I have been watching this, trying to figure it out myself and I have come up with the same thing that you are asking. My system has a sql driver version 2000.80.194.00. Before I install the distribution files on the client machine I have checked there ODBC version. They have a different version something like. 3.7.80(Starts with a 3). When I install the report on the client machine, it changes the SQL driver version to the 2000.80.194.00 as per my machine. The fix to this is to bring the version back to the original with the help of a network administrator. Is there an easier way. Do I always have to do this with those clients that have a different version of SQL. Thanks for your help.

I would stick with V3.7 right now. It's tried and true. And I've seen some people have an awful time trying to remove the SQL Server 2000 driver from their PC and go back to V3.7. Brian J. Alves

Thanks very much balves. Does this mean that I should bring my SQL driver version back to 3.7 from 2000. If I do this, are you aware of any programs that may conflict. I am still doing some research but obviously some program that was installed on my P.C changed my driver version. Thanks again.

I am moving a site from one server to another, which is using Oracle as a database. The another server on which i moved the site didnt have the Oracle driver , so i loaded the same Oracle client version and set the driver.

I have checked the environmental variable path and the odbc.ini-database entry.

But when I run a query from site, it pops up an error page saying "Database Error: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (Oracle73 Ver 2.5). "

I too got same problem. When i move my PC from mdac 2.1 to mdac 2.6.On running application which require ODBC driver to talk. Now what's happening is on running application i m getting system error 126.So as per above answer's i will try to bring back my PC to 2.1 version and try to run application.I too think it should work ,but before that i will talk to my NCC team member regarding this.
Request If any body of us get the solution for this please update this site.Above solution's and prediction's are really helpful to solve such type of problems
