I met a problem that system crashed after it restarted after installing JDK1.2.2. I used an Emachine with Windows 98 preinstalled. I can not restore the computer even by simply using restore CD. I need to restore it by reformatting the whole hard driver. The error message is showed during rebooting Windows 98, " Windows can not upgrade the file". Any idea, please let me know asap. My email is jipeng@yahoo.com. Thanks.
Do you still have the problem? Sounds like the problem is not directly related to the installation of the jdk1.2.2
It might be a Windows problem, check for viruses (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> Also make sure that you get all your jdk and patches from the sun site directly.
I successfully installed and run jdk1.2.2 on my emachine and everything works fine except that when you use Swing you need to turn off your graphics hardware acceleration in order to get graphics that will repaint correctly (This is one of the problems when using Windows 98 and Java 2 together)
