Hi, the maintenance terminal that was hooked up to my Option 11C and Meridian Mail was used by other staff in my office on a Unix box. The result is that the settings were changed and now that I have it back on the system I can not communicate with the switch or voicemail. Does anyone know where I can get the correct settings and possibly the 25 pin, pinouts for the maintenance console dumb terminal?

Any help is appreciated.
Colleen

Look in the MerMail install book - there is a section on seting up the terminal - it will be the same for the PBX except maybe for the transmit/recieve speeds - set these according to the ports settings on the switch.

If you include your e-mail - I can send you the DB25 pinouts.

Thanks for the info, I check out my manuals. Tek-tips does not allow the use of email addresses, the last time I used mine in a post the deleted my entire thread and sent me an email explaining that it was a no no.

Standard RS232 cable with a null modem. Use N81 & whatever the dip switch on the SSC card is set to, usually 9600baud, for the cable marked 0.

Reusser,

I have configured the dumb terminal per the manual and still do not have connectivity, the cable coming from the 11C is a 25 pin male, when cabled before it was borrowed the connection had a female to female gender changer on it. I have connected cable labelled "0" to the dumb term with the gender changer and still have no response. If I wanted to make a cable to connect the 11C to the terminal, 25 to 25 would I use the terminal to terminal pinouts or terminal to modem pinouts? I am not using a modem but I am not sure what the 11C should be classified as, modem or terminal?

Thanks for all the help.

WDHB are you saying that I need to attach a null modem cable between cable 0 and the dumb terminal?

Thanks
Colleen

unless of course tty 0 has broken/disabled... what are the others used for?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Keep the cabled labled 0 connected, remove female to female gender changer and attach nul modem adapter. Make sure your transmit/receive speed are set the same as dip switches on SSC card.

You could make your own cable to go between tty 0 cable and terminal - use DTE to DTE (same as putting in a null modem)

Reusser,

You are a genius, it works, Thank you so much!!!
