System Backup

Hi,

I need to make a system backup (mksysb) but this server does not have neither dvd drive nor tape drive. I have other servers with dvd drive.

Can I use the dvd drive in another server to remotely backup this server? Can I used NIM to create a mksysb in another server?

You can create a mksysb image on disk and use NIM to install the image.

Example: mksysb -i /mksysb.image

you may use another way to do it:

You just create the mksysb file on the local server and then send it via NFS or another way to a server with DVD ram.

Using mksysb with to make a bootable media you must use an mksysb file. That's a chance no ? Qe juste have one )
