I installed a used merlin mail r3, the type you hang on the wall. Any way, the customer who I installed it for called and told me that his mailbox was 80% full.....OK --easy fix, I just have to change his COS. However, how do I dial into his vmail box and get to the System Prompts? I am sure there is a way.

Thanks

An individual mail box can not change it's cos.

The administrator can do that. (9997)

I always set these up with COS 10, that way, the only thing you have to worry about is if they do not erase their old messages.

Also, he needs to be reminded to erase his old messages, or he will have this same problem with a bigger mailbox.

I thank you for that---but my questions is more for if I call in, on a phone, and get to his voicemail, is there a way for me to get to prompt to get to Sys Admin 9997?

similar to calling in to 770 from a station and then putting in the 9997 plus pw to get to 9 etc.

I thought this could be done, maybe not.

Thanks

Simply Dial *7 (*R) for REMOTE, and then your 9997...

You can log in to ANY MAIL BOX from ANY EXTENSION and/or ANY LINE answered by AA, with *7.

thanks I will try that ---- it did not work. I got into the mailbox---hit *7 and 9997---the vmail lady then siad entry not understood, to approve recording..............

So I am guessing that I will have to install a modem---what do I use as my dial up program? Hyperterminal or winspm or what? Any ideas?

Thanks

If you get to a mailbox, as opposed to the auto attendant, first dial *8 (*T for Transfer), THEN dial *7 to log into voice mail.

Thanks TTT, that did the job.

Now in answer to my second question---if I do set up a modem, and put it on the serial port of the marlin mail and connect a line cord to the 012 card available port. I can dial in by calling the main number and transferring to that ext/station but what do I use to access Merlin Mail? Hyperterminal or winspm or what?

Thanks

You can't do anything through the modem, except pull reports (which can be useful), but all programming is done through the system administrator's mailbox.

Also have seen instances that the VM wouldn't boot up after a power failure if the modem was connected and turned on, so we pretty much didn't install then at all.

Anyway, use Hyperterminal, 1200-N-8-1, and the P/W is the serial number of the VM unit.
