From what I have researched this seems to be a common problem. I had a recent attack of spyware and ran the regular programs to knock it all out. Somehow in there I must have deleted something in the registry(?) and now when I start up my computer the System32 folder opens.

I've tried and I cannot find a solution so I figure I'll use the infinite knowledge here in TT to help me out!

Thanks guys,

Let me know what more information you need and I will post it!

thanks erik I found that through google and followed all of its tips but still see System32 everytime I start up my computer.

Everything else seems to be running smoothly I just keep getting this folder when I start up.

I did just find one system32 registry that I do not recognize, I am going to delete it and restart hopefully this is where my problem lies.

If not I am going to need your guys help!!!

If you haven't ran these, you might try that too:

I would check for malware as well:

Webroot Spysweeper

Download it here:

Webroot Spysweeper 14 day Trial

Update the defs and do a sweep.

Also check this out:

Ewido download:

Update it and run a complete scan.

I would also check it with some other virus scanners just to make sure.

Erik

thank you in advance for helping me out

to update - i removed those things, ran ewido, deleted all messed up registries and now system32 does not pop up. Although I did delete two needed registries for 2 startup programs, its okay though I can just re-install those 2 programs.

Tomorrow I will re-install those programs and re post my hijackthis file and you can see if everything looks good!

thank you very much for your help!

Star for the blog reference by Erik. If nothing else, I picked up (indirectly) another little tip for probably what could end up being common computer problems what with all the spyware running around, these days.
