So I admit I'm an IPO noob. I downloaded the latest Manager yesterday and on Avaya's website there was also a Sysmon Critical Patch. Anyone know if or how I need to install this?

Just install 10.1 Manager and sysmon.
Replace the files found in the critical patch download.

The SysMon patch is for 10.1 GA and not for 10.1 SP1.

Question : Does anyone ever read release notes before downloading software?
Answer : Reading is for librarians so no.

Answer #2, to intrigant: Theorically you're right but, please, consider there are many who don't have to face only the IPO, its releases and subreleases but other brands too. Additionally, nowadays, the IT companies (both vendors, distri and sys integrators)keep reducing their staff, it's really a hard job today, everybody is doing more than his best.
So, even if you're formerly right, be patient with us, please.

@IamaSherpa

Equally, why should we take the time to read the documentation and then feed you with the answers that are there and freely available to you?

It's all part of todays economy where companies rather do many things good enough than a few things really good.

@janni78 - Boom! Nail on the head right there. All except the "good enough" part. Most of the time it really isn't "good enough"!

@TheSmash, I hate controversy, but nobody here is pretending or simply asking that from you or others, I read the Avaya pages many times a days to scan documents or news, I am sure you agree that sometime there are missing parts on your own readings too, it could happens, or not?
Talking about the IPO and "relatives" (apps, IPOCC, etc) there are thousands of page to be readed, I think it's not "A-B Normal" (quoting from a old fashion movie)to miss some details, I think that our role here is to fill out some little misunderstandings or lack of knowledge of all the people sharing the site, this is what I (try) to do too.
Anyway, thank you.

Apologies if my post caused offence, that was not the intent. However it was a genuine question.

No one expects you to have read every page of documentation. You were seeking information about this particular topic so were likely on the downloads page where the relevant documentation was located.

@intrigrant 's point was that if you download software or patches, it's advisable to read the release notes. Your response to that was, you either didn't have time or the inclination to do so because of the other systems you look after. The implication is for those systems you have a similar attitude.

If this is incorrect then I apologise again. [love]

@TheSmash, just have a read at the original thread dated april 4th: "....I downloaded the latest Manager yesterday and on Avaya's website....". As a consequence I assumed he had already loaded the R10.1 SP1 for which no patch are present or documented, then my question.
Just after we understood from @Janni78 that it was R10.1 GA.
So, it happens to all to misunderstand a question or a reading, "nobody is perfect" (quote, again), our job is becoming terrifying, I know we all can understand and trying to be comprehensive.

Apologies ok, don't worry, let's go ahead

[cheers]
