One router - one Unix system
/etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost loghost
I *believe* the router is setup to forward syslog messages to the UNIX box.
But I don't know If the UNIX box will/or is catching them. ( if they are being generated?)
syslogd.conf
there are clear example of how to edit the syslogd config to SEND messages elsewhere to be logged but not what to do for "stuff" forwarded to *it* or how to catagorize the incomming messages ( or will they fall into the standard categories.
info, error, debug ?
Any directions pointing would appreciated...
Thanks...
