Hi,
I am running Redhat 7.2. I want to collect with this machine syslog-messages of an dsl-router. I configured the IP-Address of the Redhat-Machine as syslog target. But I can't find any messages in the syslog-file. Is there something special to configure on the Redhat-Machine ?

Hi,

Did you allow inbound udp port 514 on the redhat firewall ? (/usr/sbin/lokkit as root)

Also, I think you have to edit the /etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog script to add the -r parameter to the startup arguments for it to accept remote data.

Hope this helps
