Our syslog-ng stopped working by itself and cannot start again:

[root@scylla init.d]# /etc/init.d/syslog-ng status
Checking for syslog-ng service: \033[31mdead but pidfile exists.\033[0m
[root@scylla init.d]# /etc/init.d/syslog-ng start
Starting syslog-ng: OK
[root@scylla init.d]# /etc/init.d/syslog-ng status
Checking for syslog-ng service: \033[31mdead but pidfile exists.\033[0m

I tried to reboot the box and still not help. Any ideas?

Thanks!

You could try deleting the pid file before starting it, but I don't think that should matter.

Try starting it manually instead of via the init script and see if you get any output.
