Hi,

I have a remote site that has the Nimda virus this has made the sys drive completely full. The server is retired but still has a couple of files we need to copy off. The problem is because its full it won't mount.

Is there any 3rd party software (or maybe linux) that could access the drive?
If not would booting the server up and adding a spanned drive work?

Thanks

Ash.

Are the files you require on SYS or on another volume? If you ca physically get to the server, you can bring the server up by running "SERVER -NS" which will load a basic server without mounting SYS. If the data is on another volume other than SYS, load the SCSI drivers manually and see if you can mount that volume. Then, you can use NETBASIC or TOOLBOX to copy the files to floppy disk (providing they will fit on floppy disk).

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The data is on the sys drive. If I boot with SERVER -NS will toolbox be able to access the drive without mounting it?

Thanks for you help

Unfortunately not - SYS has to be mounted to allow you to access it. You could try SERVER -NDB to see if it will mount SYS then? -----------------------------------------------------

Actually the Disk Manager software you BUY and use yourself is only a couple of hundred dollars. It is there service that is really expensive. GlennA

You first mentioned adding a spanned drive - that would work - add another drive, then boot the server, then span the full volume onto the additional drive. Then you can mount the drive, and copy the files. Fred Wagner
