I used "sys-unconfig" command to clean up my configuration and reboot the computer (solaris 8 intel version) because I just installed cable modem and router (so now I have DHCP server). After reboot, I was asked again for the network questions. I answered "Y" to allow network, "Y" to use dhcp, and "N" to enable IPv6. But I got an error message, "could not contact a dhcp server on the network interface". I suspect it has something to do with my network card because my network card is not lighting up. The problem is that I could find my network card by putting the boot disk and run the installation assistant. I found "DEC 21140 Fast Ethernet" under PCI section.

I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Boot up, then unplumb the network interface, and plumb it again with a static IP for a while.. Check whether it works..
