Synonyms in CR9

We are trying to run a report using synonyms instead of the actual database tables. When I try to run the report from within Crystal and I try to set the datasource location, none of the tables in the synonym section have any fields associated with them. So when I select the synonym table, Crystal wants me to map the fields in the report to something but there isn't anything to select.

We use CR 9 and an Oracle10g database.

I am sure I didn't explain that very well - sorry.

Thanks for your help.
