Hi People!

Can anyone help an old time network guy...I need to know how to sync my BDC with my PDC. I used to know how with NT but 2000 I can't find it!

thanks in advance

Sync what time? files? policies?
If time same commands.
I think you are looking for replication. You can force replication through active directory sites and services.
Expand the server folder and click on (going on memeory not near a server right now)NTDS settings then in the right hand pane right click and select replicate now.

I just found this out today..you can run the old server manager utility from the run line on a win2k DC.

Just go to run, type in svrmgr and there you have it..NT 4.0 server manager. Only difference is that when you choose the option to sync with the primary domain controller, there is no more option to promote to primary domain controller, right above it which was a stupid place to put it anyway.

I am not 100% sure this works when synching a win2k dc with another win2k dc but it works just fine when syching an nt 4.0 bdc with your win2k dc.

Ok, just an FYI, you must use the sites and services to sync/replicate with 2 win2k dcs, but the old srvmgr still works when synching an nt 4.0 bdc with a win2k dc (in my case, an nt4.0 pdc that was upgraded)

Thanks for your ideas - appeciated. In my case it is one domain. Win2K PDC, Win2KBDC and other NT4.0 domain servers.
I will try your ideas and let you know

thanks again!
