The setup: 2 computers running Outlook in the same office on a Windows domain - NO Exchange Server. One has Outlook 2013 and one has Outlook 2016 and both are set to use IMAP to a GoDaddy email account. The user gets bumped from one computer to the other and wants to see her email synchronized on both computers.

The user is complaining that if she moves an email to a folder on one computer and then logs into the other computer, the email is still in the Inbox and also appears unread. IMAP is supposed to synchronize but apparently it's not. Or is she not giving it time to synchronize all folders when she gets on the second computer?

Are there any special settings I may have missed to allow the proper synchronization? Sorry, never use IMAP personally.

Or am I better off with something that appears to be made just for this situation: CodeTwo Outlook Sync

How is she storing in folders?

New IMAP in Outlook 2013
"For categories, while this is the third most common request we hear from you, the IMAP protocol itself does not support categories. As a result, we weren’t able to engineer a feature that ensures that categories (including the color and name of the category) you assign on one computer are stored on the server and available on all your other computers, or even available on your same computer if you have to recreate your Outlook profile."

Or can it be this? Imap issues Tht have 2 windows updates causing issues with folder syncing.

I don't think categories are the issue.
I made a mistake: GOOGLE Mail not GoDaddy!!!! Not sure if that is relevant since both support IMAP

How is she storing in folders? Folders appear on Gmail web mail and in Outlook. I believe she is just dragging a read email from Inbox to a folder like "invoices" or whatever.

Those updates were in 2013!! No fixes from Microsoft that would have overwritten the problem updates by now?

I should mention that the folders are under SAVED EMAILS in Gmail.

. IMAP is supposed to synchronize but apparently it's not
ONLY if both clients are set to 'Subscribe to all folders", only "Inbox", "Sent Items" and "Deleted items" folders (and sub-folders) are automatically subscribed when connecting to IMAP, so if a folder is created that is NOT an "Inbox" sub-folder no other mail client will 'see' it.

Forum68 should give more on Outlook specifics
