Hello there, today I was trying to help a client sync an early release of ACT!2000 (the one that has "link with handheld device" on the file menu) with her Handspring Visor. She has Windows XP. I downloaded the free conduit from the ACT! website and set up the sync options. When complete we found that it actually sync'd the palm data with the data in the Demo database (that comes with ACT!) into her current ACT! file. So all of the data in her act file (2000 records) was GONE!. Thank god for back ups. Anyway, we reinstalled the conduit and tried again, and still the same problem. Our next step will be to uninstall and reinstall ACT!, Palm, and the conduit. Has anyone seen this before? Can anyone suggest a fix?

Thank you

Dawn

oh, sorry! i geuss i should read the ENTIRE post next time. I was thinking that maybe the visor was set to a different file. if not, then it probably would not hurt to re-install act and the conduit, but probably uninstalling the palm desktop is uneccisary.
It also may be set to replace the desktop database with the palm one. like this: palm->desktop
instead of : desktop->palm
or maybe you can put the data base on the palm some other way and then sync and see what happens.
hope i did not leave you where you started from. -God Bless

I appreciate the input, but yes, your post didn't offer anything new. It is an odd thing, but I will let you know what happens once I reinstall ACT! and the conduit. (and probably Palm just to be safe.)

thanks,

Dawn
