We have SBS at main office with branch office dailing in via remote desktop or VPN. We use financial application which runs on SQL. Branch office uses this application via remote desktop. What can we use if we install another server at branch office so that those users can connect locally. Basicly the SQL databases and other data needs to synchronise and update info between 2 sites.Branch office is not part of SBS domain.

In real time, you could not afford the bandwidth cost unless your Bill Gates

Best to get a cable or fiber, at an affordable price, have a fast Terminal server at the main office, have the employees connect to the Terminal server session through VPN or Win 2008 Terminal services gateway using SSL for security.
I just go a client a 3Ghz, quadcore server...it is so fast running applications over standard residential cable via Terminal services, you would rather RDP and use the apps remotely then run then from the fastest workstation you have.

True, plus you can't really synchronize a SQL database unless the people in the branch office are going to be read-only clients. Replication between SQL servers is a pretty advanced configuration, and it wouldn't be worth trying to go there.

Using Terminal Services is probably your best bet. You could actually install VMWare or Windows Virtual Server on your SBS box (add ram and an additional dedicated drive) and run a virtual workstation with the app installed, or you could run a virtual copy of Windows 2003 with Terminal Services enabled and just have the app run when you connect to it instead of loading a desktop.
