I have a user who would like to sync her palm while connected to her laptop on the road. Here, she's connected to a LAN using Exchange. Away, she connects her laptop to the domain through Citrix. We use Office XP and she uses Earthlink as her isp. Anyone?

This is possible by installing ActiveSync via the Add/Remove Programs applet on the server, and mapping the client's COM port in the login script, with a net use command.

You'd need to configure it so that only that user got the shortcut - remove the shortcut from All Users and create it in the users profile desktop folder.

I hope this helps

Hey Citrix Engineer.
I know this is a pretty old post, but I am trying to get this set up for one of my users. he has an HP Jornada 720.

I have installed Active Synch 3.6 via Control Panel on the server and mapped the Client Com 1 to Com 2 on the server in the logon script

net use com2:\\client\com1

When he opens Active Synch it does not find his device.
How can I tell if the com port is actually mapping?

Is there something wrong with my syntax?

Many Thanks :)
Kristine

I've seen problems mixing COM ports like that. Can you get them both on COM1 or COM2?

Turned out I was missing a colon at the end.
net use com2:\\client\com1:

I also ended up mapping com1 to com1 to simplify things. Also, if anyone is wondering, we had trouble connecting to the local port while the local Active Synch was running on it (causing it to be busy).

I took some doing but it definitely works!
