Using a DELL AXIM X5 and ActiveSync to Exchnage 5.5 . The sync of mail, contacts etc works fine BUT, would like to sync from the PUBLIC folders things such as CONTACTS and CALENDER.....is this possible ?? Does not seem to perfomr this task. Only current desktop email details.

I am syncing to a Compaq 3835 and have pretty much the same problem. Trouble is that all that I have read and seen say that it's not possible. Let me know if you find anything...but I'm guessing not.

I'm using an Ipaq H3835 along with a Symbol SPS 3000 bar code scanner as well as Syware's VisualCE software to modify data on our shop floor. I then 'synchronize' the changes back on our server -- use sync software is Microsoft ActiveSync 3.6 -- and NO, it doesn't work perfectly. It would update email, and folders it was geared for just fine, but not the folders I was trying to convince it to use. I finally made it work by tweaking my registry on the PC. In the registry under WindowsCEServices->Partners->Services->Synchronization... I modified the Briefcase path to the folder I wanted --- well almost. After making the change in the registry, lo and behold the folder name was modified to almost the same name. So....I graciously accepted the folder name and (I think - it's been awhile) created one with that name (because it really didn't exist - Windows just wouldn't accept the already existing one that I was trying to use). At any rate, once the registry Briefcase Path setting identified a truly existing folder, I was then able to place the files to be synced in that folder.

I have found that sending a file from the PC to the iPAQ is a snap. The other direction requires several disconnects/reconnects until the information in the PC folder files finally settle down and contain the current version from the handheld.

Hope this is helpful.

Just picked up an Axim X5 and so have come to read up and ask questions.

In response to synchronising public folders and calendars this is not possible, full stop, even on a laptop (I think).
What you have to do is drag the public folders into favourites (or atleast this is what I have done with a shared calendar as an example) and then the calendar, folder will sync from there. I would suggest that it is more of an Exchange issue than a sync although I am not 100%

Hope this helps.
