Hi all,

I'm running a samba server on a solaris machine, talking to several windows NT boxes.

From time to time the solaris machine drops out and stops responding to the network.

The network activity can go on for several hours without a problem and then all of a sudden all connections are dropped.

When checking the state of the sockets I see a few sockets in SYN_RCVD state.

When typing snoop (network snoop binary) the machine kicks off again.
Must be an issue with waiting for a packet.

Anyone any info about this ?

Thanks!

This isn't helpful, but the Solaris box probably occasionally gets in a huff about having to talk to all these NT ones!!!! Sorry..........

ROFL!

# cat /var/adm/messages
Aug 22 12:39:54 boldak "do what??!I REFUSE!"

# cat /usr/local/samba/var
Aug 22 12:39:55 localhost boldak refused to pass packet received from NT1234.

I bet it's something with the TCP/IP stack but the trouble is I can't find any simple document explaining exactly what TCP/IP stack settings a default install of NT is using.
So..it's poking in the dark really...

"In the mean time" I got snoop running with a timer from the crontab,..ahum.

Not really very certified an all but atleast effective and gone are those nasty time-outs...
