Symposium Web Client and SAP?

Does anyone know a workaround for a PC running the Symposium Web Client (Fat Client) with SAP? Apparently, there is some kind of conflict. Whenever I work on purchase requisitions in SAP, I get a "short dump" (crash). When I uninstall the Web Client, all is well. Our IT dept. simply said, "Uninstall the Web Client".
