One of our supervisors seemed to have a problem importing a user-created report designed with Crystal 8.5 into Symposium. I tried designing a report in Version 10 of Crystal and followed the instructions for importing...several times. It never showed up in the reports display.

Is Symposium version-specific in its use of Crystal Reports? The docs mention Crystal 9, but we only have Versions 6, 8, 8.5 and 10 (an evaluation copy).

Depends on what release of Symposium you have.

Rls 5.0 (just released): Crystal Pro 9.0
Rls 4.2: Crystal Pro 8.0 (8.5 Q3 '02*)
Rls 4.0: Crystal Pro 8.0
Rls 3.0: Crystal Pro 7.0
Rls 1.5: Crystal Pro 7.0

* Assumes you have up to date Symposium peps

It's the little things....

I discovered that there's a menu option that isn't mentioned in the docs. From the Reports window, View/User-Created Reports is UNchecked by default. Selecting it shows the newly imported reports.

With version 4.2 of Express, both Crystal v 8.5 and 10 can be used to design user-created reports.

BTW, the Symposium trainer that was here originally had the same problem with importing reports. It was HIS conclusion that we needed version 9 of Crystal.

LOL!
As long as you don't use any version 10 features that are not available in the version of Crystal that Symposium is using, you should be okay.
