We are running Symposium Call Center Server 4.2 with Symposium TAPI 2.3. Occasionally when we launch the Symposium agent application on the client machines we get the same three errors:

"Problem Creating Telephony Server Objects"

or

"Run-Time Error 429 ActiveX Component Cannot create Object"

or

"Failed to Start Rules RunTime"

I know it seems like alot of errors but Symposium agent works on approximately 90% of our PCs. It's just a few that get these errors. I can completely delete the accounts and rebuild them exactly like the ones that are working and still get the same error.

I have tested the PCs basic TAPI using the Julmar Phone App. that comes with TAPI and I can see the TNs listed and can grab a line and make a call using the Julmar application however I cannot launch Symposium Agent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There must always be an icon in the system tray that looks like a stop light. This light should be green. If it is not green screen pops will not work.

If the light is not there, run the NNLogin application.

If the light is red, or the agent receives the error “unable to create telephony object”, then the application is unable to connect to the TAPI server. First verify that you can ping the TAPI server. If you can ping the TAPI server, verify that the phone set is entered in the telephony snap-in on the TAPI server. If the line is entered, then verify that your user has been given access to this line, in the same telephony snap-in. If you have been given access and the line is in there, the next step is:
1. Go back to the client machine, start a command prompt, and type “tcmsetup /c /d”. This will disable the TAPI client on the agent desktop.
2. From the same command prompt, type in “tcmsetup /c tapisrv”, this will reenable the TAPI client.

Thanks sandyml but unfortunately, I've already verified evrything you just mentioned and still no luck.

Thanks Again,

I belive the SA-licenses are OK?

I have found some simular problem described earlier that might help you..

TITLE:
Error Message: Error with Creating Telephony Server Object, Symposium Agent will not come up.

FACTS:
Symposium Agent Server 2.3.0.4
Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTONS:
Error Message: Error with Creating Telephony Server Object, Symposium Agent will not come up. Symposium Agent unable to start telephony service.

FIX:
If the TAPI Database has a high number of TNs and Acdproxy and Remote Access services are in Automatic startup mode, re-configure how Acdproxy and Remote Access services start. Change the "restart on 1st failure" to re-launch after 3 or more minutes.
If this fails, add an additional 3 or more minutes to the "restart on 2nd failure" field.

Thanks Skaret, are you are talking about going into the "services" utility on the TAPI server and changing the properties of these two services. I'll give it a try.

Thanks again I greatly appreciate your help..
