Symposium Server error

hi folks, getting the following error when i connect to Symposium via the client:

"Unable to connect to the Symposium Server. Please check whether the network is operating properly. If the problem persists, please contact your support organization."

The strange thing is that I can login to the client and my main screen comes up. but if i click on anything, i get the message above.

 
Can you ping the SCCS from the pc the client is insalled on? If you can you may be in need of a reboot on the server.
 
Are you using classic (fat) client? Has it ever worked from this PC? Are patches up to date? If so, has the PC been recently updated?

If it never worked, it probably did not install correctly. If it used to work, there is probably a conflict with a recent update. In either case, you will probably have to de-install the client (including Sybase - this is a pain) and re-install from scratch.

Finally, it could be possible that you are experiencing network problems, but my bet is on the client itself.
