Hopefully this will make sense:

I have 2 SCCS systems (Rel 5) plus an NCC. SCCS/ NCC patching is current.

Between the 2 sites, I have 2 x 30Ch E1 links. One link is split into 2 x routes, the other is a 30Ch route. The E1s each have their own Dch.

The routes are in ESN between the switches.

The routes are acquired within the SCCSs.

The problem that I have is that if the prime E1 link fails (this is the one with 2 x routes programmed) the networking between the 2 SCCSs fails ie: calls are not presented over the 2nd E1.

Is there something that I have missed or is it that you can only use what appears to be restricted numbers of channels on a networking scenario?

Thanx in advance......

This is not an issue with Symposium, but with your underlying configuration. All Symposium does is tell the switch to route the voice call to the network CDN at the far end site.

The switches and trunking in between need to provide a clear path or the network attempt will fail.

OK.... heres the thing.....................

Have done a search of RDBs.... all OK (same for all)..

ADAN DCH.... and a discrepency found. On the failing links at both ends, the RCAP = NAC was missing. Have now added this. Cannot test though as we currently have some maintenance going on.

The next question is: What does NAC do, as so far I have not neen able to locate a description of it.

The Docos say: Network Access Data....

Any thoughts???

do you have alternate routing set up for these calls?

ie under a dsc (in our case) we have a certain rlb and in there we have different rli's so dsc 240 has 1st choice 110 and then 2nd choice 111

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Yup, we have different RLIs set. At this point, we believe that our 2nd link will be restored next week. That being the case, I will be able to test the setup with the new RCAP parameter added.

Make sure that NACD will work properly between the sites for all of the routes in your RLI. Keep in mind that is not the same thing as being able to complete a phone call across that route; NACD messaging has to be proper and complete, no truncated numbers, no DMI table on the outgoing end, etc.
