Has anyone been able to load the Symposium 4.0 Client on an XP machine.

I can load on a WIN2K machine then upgrade to WINXP, but I can't to a clean WINXP installation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, this works if you download a patch first from this location:

Do the following:
Copy the ASE12CLT folder to the local C: drive and rename this into SYBASE.
Copy the extracted files to the same folder (be sure that you can read hidden files and overwrite files)
Start the setup from Sybase, let the destination folder either be c:\ASE12CLT if you have 1 partition or D:\ASE12CLT if you have multiple partitions.
Perform a standard installation, reboot and wait for Sybase to finish (can take a while).
Start the normal installation of the Symposium client, it will skipp the Sybase part now.
Be sure that if you have previously tried to install Symposium and it has crashed, that you use REGCLEAN ( before installing Sybase / Symposium.

There's also a new client available which is also XP and P4 processors ready.

Good luck.

1 more thing: you have to use the Windows compatibility mode (Start | Programs | Accessiores) to install Symposium and use both the Windows 2000 emulator as well as Disable the Visual Themes, your system runs better now.

I am getting all kinds of errors when I try to do this.

I can't write to c:\ASE12CLT and it aborts the install

I can start if I write to c:\sybase, but that does not seem correct.

Should I regclean all instances of sybase and start over.

I am using XP Home to run this on.

totally confused?????!!!!!????

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a complete home office set up and this is the last piece.

Janaya: i have an SCCS 4.2 client installed on a WinXP, that goes without any problems. Even on a clean installation Try to get that version.

Bye
