We patch monthly from a central site. We would like to be able to verify call processing remotely. Has anyone thought of a way to get an agent logged in remotely through a global variable via a keypad? Or maybe have the agent automatically log in to Symposium?

Right now we rely on watching Meridian Mail ports becoming acquired. Its desireable from a 3rd party perspective to make a call and be able to pull the recording and watch it on the wallboards. Thus proving all systems good without needing people on site.

What have other people come up with as far as testing for their monthly patching, assuming people patch regularly?

There is no native auto login capability. If you can spare a phoneset (put it in the switchroom or somewhere under lock and key), you can leave an agent logged in (and Not Ready) all the time in standby. When you want to test, remotely access (via Classic or Web Client) and assign the agent to the skillset you need and make a test call. When you are done, you can put the agent back in standby and the skillset will close.

An even slicker solution is if you can use the i2050 softphone to log in over the LAN from a PC. That way you can log in or out from anywhere you have a PC that has broadband access to your company LAN.

As Miles says, there is no way to remotely log in an agent. One simple way to verify that the Symposium is processing is to create a script which takes you to a menu, delivers you a message inviting you to press a digit which routes you to a local phone number. If it works it verifies that the Symposium is routing via a scipt, that the call pilot ports are acquired and working correctly, and the PBX can switch a call.
