symbolic link?

Win 7 Enterpise on domain.
User on our domain was attempting to map some network drives. She got most of them, under network locations I see all the normal icons showing mapped drives. She also has what looks like a folder, the properties show it pointing to the correct place.
Is this one of those symblic links? Can I just delete it or will that also delete the file sfrom the server?
Also, when I do a normal mapping to sem place this 'file folder' is pointing to, it works until I log out and back in, the normal mapping goes away. Possibly due to this 'symbolic link"?
 
UPDATE - More info.
I know how they created 'link' and going thru steps I see it creates a shortcut, so delete is the answer...
