Symbol LS2208 Programming Help?

I need to distinguish between data coming from a keyboard and data coming from a Symbol LS2208 Barcode Scanner.

I'm having a hard time understanding the User Manual that comes with the product.

I want to add a character to the beginning of every scanned barcode (like a ~ or ^ character). Would this be a prefix or an ADF rule? Any chance someone could give me a step-by-step instruction set for setting this up?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
