I just purchased 12 Symbol LRT 3840 handheld RF units. I’m needing to purchase the VT100 software for these units and a programming cradle. Can I purchase these from some place other than Symbol or is that my only choice? How does symbol do there licensing? EX. Do I have to purchase the VT100 software 12 times or is there a price break?

Thanks,

Eric

When I used to have to deal with symbol and thier RF Spectrum 24 kit, the licensing was controlled by replacing the keyboard decal, so if you are using vt100 you knew where all the correct key are located same if you were to use IBM 5250 emu.

I used to be able to buy sets of keyboard decal's and with it I was usally sent 1 copy of the software which creates the hex file you need to upload via the cradle.

If you can live with out knowing where the break key is located etc, only buy one decal to get the software and then if anyone asks where is the PF1 key you can tell them.
