Hi. I wish to insert some symbols into my Excel like smile face, a tick, etc. How can I do that?

sern,
You can always create them in word and copy/paste to excel or use webdings, wingdings, etc. font.

Another way to insert symbols into Excel is to open the Character Map (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Character Map), selct a symbol, click copy and then return to your Excel sheet and click paste.

I hope this helps.

What version of Office are you using ? - The character map is available in Office XP (Insert - Symbol). It's very useful !

Yet another way is to set the cell font to Symbol or Wingdings and type the appropriate text, e.g. a Smiley ":)" is "J" in Wingdings and a tick is Alt-0252 on the Numeric Keypad.

chriswoo,
Good point Chris, but Excel 2000 doesn't have symbols. So I assumed Sern was on 2000.
Your right Excel 2002 does has the symbol insert.
