OK fellas I am trying to set up a remote VPN client on my laptop to access two remote site in different states. I have successfully set a vpn connection between the two sites using Netgear FVS318 routers (which drop the connection nearly every day requiring a reboot) The firmware ver is 1.4 (plan to upgrade next week to 1.4) at home I have a Symantec VPN100 connected to a cable modem. Connected to the Firewall I have a D-Link 624 802.11g wireless router. I have tried for days to set up a VPN using SoftRemote and the VPN on the firewall. I put the laptop in the DMZ of the wireless router so it's just behind the firewall (symantec). The documentation Netgear has is very confusing and in some cases contradictory to what SafeNet has posted. My ip is dynamic and the ips at the two sites are static. I am using Win2000. Please help

Did you have any luck?
I just (finally) got SoftRemote to connect to my FVS318. Make sure the SafeNet connection name is EXACTLY what you put in "Remote IPSEC ID" on the FVS318, and DO NOT specify your remote WAN IP address - use 0.0.0.0!

Use the new v1.4 FVS318 manual instructions to set up both ends. It's a pain to find the section in the manual, but it worked.

No, I never got the Symantec to successfully connect. I did get Soft remote to work and now I am using the Netgear router with a linksys router and everything works great. The problem I am haveing now is the Netgear routers drop IP connections daily. (Not VPN but WAN IP)I'm using two FVS318s between sites and the linksys at home. It happened before I upgraded the firmware and stopped after I upgraded one router and then started again after I upgraded the second router. Netgear has done nothing to help me. The tech keeps telling me to take it back and exchange it, but that did not fix it. I am using the latest firmware and my clients are getting upset they have to reset the router every day. Have you heard anything like this?

Thanks
