Symantec, Version 10

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone ever ran into the problem of not being able to get the secondary server to show up in the Symantec Console Center? I have uninstalled and reinstalled it numerous times. My hosts files are correct. I even created another group and installed the second server there and then tried to move it the original group, but it gives me an error message that it cannot communicate with server group.(Found this on symantec's website.) I also removed IPX off both servers. I've been working on this for awhile and can't seem to get it to work. Any help or thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

Are you using the original install cd? It's terrible. Tons of problems. Get the patch and see if that helps.

I am having the same problem. I reverted back to version 9, and will stay there until Symantec fixes the problem.

I also am sticking with 9.1. You should take a look at the Symantec forum here at Tek-Tips, it is 90% problems with v.10.

I hate v10. It's terrible. Before I gave up on it, I had a 25% success ratio. V9 was solid.

I also hate Veritas BackupExec v10 (I guess it's Symantec Now). Why do companies have to change a good thing. Itwas a semi-great product and then they ruined it with V10.

Hey, Marvin,
Veritas version 9 had lots of problems on my servers. I finally figured it all out, but it took quite some time to get it right. But once I did, it was solid as you says.
I can still remember running ArcServe 5 on an old 3.12 server that just worked and worked and worked. Ah, the good old days of DOS.....................when my server hard disks were only 2GB.
