Hi Forum Users:

When I could not find ProcommPlus on Symantec's web-site anymore, I called and customer support and tech support say that ProcommPlus has been discontinued and support has been stopped.

Thanks to this forum site, support is still moving forward, but I am planning test automation projects for the future and need to know are there any plans to bring ProcommPlus back as a new prodcut like has happened in the past (Datastorm, Quarterdeck, Symantec, etc.)
Win2K is getting close to EOL by Microsoft as well.

Also, is there any good comparable or alternative software to ProcommPlus out there ?

Still haven't found anything that is single user the way Procomm Plus is. Occasionally someone mentions a server-based solution, but I keep forgetting it's name since I'm not going to spend the $1000+ for the server license. But it does do Serial, Dialup, Telnet, Rlogin, etc.

I'm sure that knob will know what I'm talking about, as I think he did some scripting on it for a while.

Are you thinking of Hummingbird's communication app? I'm blanking on the name, but think I have a copy of it at work that I can get the name from. I wasn't terribly impressed with either their UI or the scripting, but that was from a few years back.

As for Procomm itself, unless Symantec sells it to someone, I don't see any future development work on it.

If I come up with the name, I'll post it... I think it was rebranded a few years ago... Just drawing a blank..

Still, it's a server-based app, which isn't very helpful.

Have you looked into Reflections? I used to use it and think it is by far one of the best emulators with superior capability to Procomm.

Reflections... that was it... but it's not a single-user product.

Case in point, their "single user license" is USD 1129 + USD 153.. server + client.

Our company switched over to Power Term by Ericom Software, I don't like the scripting, I tried to use the learn mode and got unusable info. I was told that I had to remove the Pcplus but since I payed for it, I will keep it on till I see the $100.00 +
