I have a security alert that comes up alot.It tells me that virus protection is off. It is auto protect enabled. The alert tells me to "prevent dupicate security alerts, use my exsisting Nortons product alerts and turn off redundant Windows security center alerts. In my secyrity center, I have it so it shows that virus protection if turned off. I have it checked off where it says "I have an anti-virus program that i`ll monitor myself.Note: Windows wont monitor your virus protection status and wont send you alerts if it is off or out of date."
Please tell me the correct way to set this up. This damn message must have came up 20 plus times since I`ve started this post. PLEASE HELP

If it's not Norton that is warning you (I presume you tested whether you can successfully detect the test-string/virus on then it sounds like a Windows problem.
