symantec resource protector: conflicts with spybot and adaware

I've noticed that I get a lot of unauthorized access messages in my norton resource protector "alerts" section of my activity log upon system startup.

Norton is blocking all of these attempts. My concern is that norton is preventing my teatimer, spybot and adaware from performing their jobs properly, and being able to detect, block and destroy spyware.

My current scans using both spybot and adaware have detected no threats. I am wondering if this is related to norton's resource protector blocking them, or if there just isn't anything on my system. (I have my IE privacy setting set to block third party and prompt for first party cookies, so it may simply be that I am blocking most spyware and tracking cookies from getting on my system to begin with.)

Regardless, I have concerns about this conflict. Does anyone here have a similar configuration with all three software packages running, and do you know if norton is interfering with spybot's and adaware's ability to function properly and do its job?

My configuration is:
Windows XP home edition. SP1 (with all current security updates.)
Norton Antivirus 2006
Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
Adaware SE professional Build 1.03

In addition, I failed to find any support forums link on the symantec site. Am I blind, or do they not have one?

what a painful configuration

they dont have forums but they do have somewhat of a solution library.
I would suggest disabling the resource protector feature.. try it out.. and if nothing changes you can always turn it back on...

its like when you have more then one anti-virus software package on your machine.. they just bump heads... you can only have one defending the bucket at one time or they think each other is messing with the settings (during monitoring).

Do you have any idea how to disable resource protector? I looked all through the options, and couldn't find anything.

I've tried norton tech help before. It's useless. It takes a good half hour before I can even get the tech help on the same page as I am.

"Welcome to symantec product support. How may I help you?"
"Yes. How do I disable the resource protector?"
"So am I to understand that you have a virus or trojan, is that correct?"
"No. I just want to disable the resource protector."
"We don't recommend doing that. Do you have a virus?"

etc etc etc.

Once my subscription runs out, I'm switching over to avast.
