Symantec Endpoint Protection Takes Forever to Scan Images on CD

Hi all;

We are rolling out SEP to devices within a medical organization. The rollout has gone seamlessly until today. We have reports of SEP taking forever to allow devices to open images on CD or other removalbe media (diagnostic imaging is the department). I have googled this to death and cannot find a solution or even anyone who has reported a similar problem. So far the only suggestion we have gotten from the vendor is to install a stripped down version of SEP however this kind of defeats the purpose of having the software.

Has anyone else run into this problem or can you point me to possible reasons/solutions?
