Hi
Was using Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition version 10, and wanted to upgrade to SEP (Endpoint) because user's complaining about PC being slow cos of AV software. Apparently SEP consumes less end user resources according to tests shown here:

Despite SEP forums complaining of major issues with the upgrading from v10 to 11 , I went ahead...what a big mistake. It basically caused issues with my server, and after uninstalling found missing folders on the server! The SEP version I installed was Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.4202_MR4_MP2_AllWin_EN

So my question is, can anyone recommend/using light weight anti-virus software, that can be centrally administered? I do not need personal firewall protection , Intrusion Prevention . Device and application control would be handy.

Also a product that I can install on roaming users laptops, and they can get virus definition updates without a VPN.

Truly, from all the various comments and tests I've come across (not personal experience as I've just used FREE AV programs for the past 7 or 8 years), Eset NOD32 seems to be quite possibly the best stand-alone antivirus app.

Servamatic,

true, and it is one of the better ones out there, but it's recognition rating was in the middle with 56%, beaten by Microsoft One Care (with 60%) and Avira Premium (with 69%)...

Avira lost out due to too many false positives... but MS OneCare beat it's pants off (though in the second test, the On Demand Test, Eset Nod32 beat MS OneCare)...

I have not used the MS solution, but have been using the ESET since 2001 and am very pleased with it. I have not had a single issue since I began using it...(knock on wood). I would not consider anything else at this point. That is why I wholeheartedly recommend the product.

Nobody should be mentioning Live One Care because A) it's not a manageable product for more than a few PCs and B) Microsoft has basically given it the axe in favor of their free solution.
