Symantec Corporate 8.1 realtime protection failed

I've seen fixes on the Symantec website for 7.5 and 7.6 (there's a good thread on those issues in Tek-Tips, actually), but I am not sure what to do about this error with 8.1. I don't want to mess with the registry if I'm not sure since this is a server I'm getting the error on (NT4 Server). The exact error comes up whenever I try to enable real time protection (which is also a service, so it appears when the server boots up, as well): "Symantec Antivirus Realtime Protection failed to load. [OK]"

Any clue??? I'll likely uninstall and reinstall this evening when the server is not in use....
